Children Still Required To Mask Despite Being the Least Vulnerable to COVID-19

Teachers unions and other partisan motives have influenced politicians’ removal of school mask mandates.

The science: Children are the least at risk and least likely to spread COVID-19. For months, dozens of studies have proven that masks are ineffective and potentially harmful for developing students.

  • Some have stated that children are more susceptible to the Omicron variant, but there’s not enough evidence to support that claim.

The policies: Despite this science, children are the last ones still required to wear masks. Last week, many blue states finally lifted their school mask mandates. But, specific cities disregard CDC guidelines: D.C. public schools, and some CA School Districts require all students to wear masks indoors, and NYC requires masks in “all settings” for children under five.

The politics: Teachers unions, parents, and other partisan motives have influenced politicians’ removal of school mask mandates.
