FBI Agent Accused of Targeting Trump and Protecting Biden Resigns

Written by Hudson Crozier

Background: After being placed on leave, top FBI agent Timothy Thibault resigned without any explanation to the public, ending a 25-year career with the bureau. Based on whistleblower accounts and Thibault’s social media, he’s been accused of the following:

  • Politicizing his job: He had posted politically charged content against Trump and the GOP on social media.

  • Shutting down the Hunter Biden investigation: Whistleblowers claimed that Thibault ordered the FBI’s investigation of Hunter Biden to be closed without proper cause—helping Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.

  • Facilitating the Mar-a-Lago raid: He then gained approval to open the FBI’s current investigation into former President Donald Trump by hiding key information from the Justice Department and FBI leaders.

  • Facilitating the Russia collusion investigation: Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) claimed that Thibault played a role in the FBI’s corrupt and dishonest investigation of Trump for Russian collusion in the 2016 election.

To combat the FBI’s partisan trend, Attorney General Merrick Garland issued new restrictions for the Justice Department, requiring employees to abstain from any political participation. This would help with public relations but do little to solve the problem of politically biased agents like Thibault.
