Why was he arrested? The House Committee investigating January 6 indicted Navarro on charges of contempt of Congress for defying their orders. He refused to appear for a deposition and turn in documents the committee requested. He could see between 30 days and a year of jail time if convicted.

Navarro speaks out: "They intercepted me getting on the plane, and then they put me in handcuffs, they bring me here. They put me in leg irons. They stick me in a cell… This is not the way that America is supposed to function… No American should be treated the way these people treated me today.”

The goal of the January 6 committee is to get to the bottom of the capitol riot. Those running it believe that Trump was entirely responsible for the riot and are planning to prove it. Navarro believes that the overarching goal of the committee is to prevent former President Trump from running in 2024 through legal means. This has already been attempted on representative Marjorie Taylor Greene.

On Thursday, televised hearings of the January 6 committee are set to begin. The members aim to capture the attention of the American people as they blame the Capitol riot on Trump and his allies.
