According to recent polls, the predicted red wave has turned into a potential tsunami. Republicans have regained support following a brief decline after the overturn of Roe v. Wade. One poll indicates that Republicans gained a lead among independent voters, even considering that polls usually underestimate Republican performance.

The House: Republicans have an 80 percent chance of winning the House in November, a 17 percent increase from last month. Women, minorities, and veterans comprise 70 percent of Republican challengers for the most vulnerable Democrat seats.

The Senate: The latest polls show narrowing support for the Democratic candidates, with a 15 percent decrease in their lead from last month. Last week, Republicans gained a slight lead over Democrats.

What’s bringing Republicans back in the lead? Americans are most concerned about rising inflation, with polls showing that Americans trust Republicans the most when dealing with the economy. Democrats had previously attempted to make abortion the key issue. Still, the strategy is struggling weeks before the midterms, prompting legacy media outlets to publish articles like “How abortion rights and the economy are linked.”
