Trans-Identifying Shooter Kills 3 Children, 3 Adults at TN Christian School

Yesterday: Audrey Hale, a 28-year-old woman who identified as a man named “Aiden,” fatally shot three children under the age of 10 and three adult staff members at a Christian elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, before police fatally shot her. Police said she was a former student at the school and arrived with “at least two assault-type rifles” and a handgun to carry out the attack.

What we know about the motive: Authorities found a map of the school with detailed plans for the attack at Hale’s home. They also found a “manifesto” that might reveal more of her motivations, one of which may have been “resentment for having to go to that school.” An anonymous source close to Hale’s family said she had “recently” announced her identity as a trans man.

Reactions: Liberal politicians and figures blame the shooting on a lack of gun control laws, with President Joe Biden falsely claiming that the shooter had AK-47s in his call for an assault weapon ban. As activists have called for violence in Tennessee over conservative legislation that stopped sex changes for minors earlier this month, conservatives blame the attack on the radicalism of the transgender movement and growing anti-Christian sentiment in America.

The media’s confusing, woke coverage: Most outlets fixated on the types of guns Hale used and the fact that police believed she obtained some of them legally. As the information on Hale’s transgender identity came out, some outlets made no mention of it, some buried it in one line of a report, or others made it seem uncertain even though it was verifiably true. Other outlets were quick to follow politically correct journalistic standards by respecting the preferred pronouns of the mass murderer and calling her a “gunman.”
