The Truth

  • Trump reformed Medicare programs to stop hospitals from overcharging low-income seniors on their drugs.
  • He [Trump] signed the most comprehensive childhood cancer legislation ever into law. This will advance childhood cancer research and improve treatments.
  • The price of prescription drugs in 2018 fell for the first time in 46 years (as per the consumer buying index).
  • He signed a bill allowing some drug imports from Canada so that prescription prices would go down.
  • The Trump admin will provide HIV prevention drugs for free to 200,000 uninsured patients per year for 11 years.
  • The Trump Administration secured $6 billion in new funding to fight the opioid epidemic.
  • Under Trump the FDA approved more affordable generic drugs than ever before in history. The administration put effort in to getting generic drugs approved faster.
  • Trump also repealed the individual mandate of Obamacare, which forced people to buy expensive insurance and those who couldn't, would be taxed for not doing so. The mandate hurt the poor. Repealing it was a tax cut for low-income Americans.

  • In 2019, Trump signed into law two funding packages providing nearly $19 million in new funding for Lupus specific research and educational programs, as well as an additional $41.7 billion in funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This represents the most Lupus funding ever.
